#53 Loved Ones – All Your Cry

All Your Cry is written in memory of the late, great Mark Sandman, frontman and bassist of Boston ‘Low-rockers’ Morphine.

The stripped back, soulful sound that Morphine achieved by removing much of the traditional pomp of indie rock and replacing it with a simple saxaphone, bass guitar and drums combination led them to create some of the most original and enduring music of the nineties. His sudden death in 1999 was a great loss to modern music.

Loved Ones similarly remove everything but a disarmingly modest, percussive beat, acoustic guitar and ambient keyboard, to back Nik Glover’s enchanting vocals. All Your Cry is the second track to be released from Loved Ones forthcoming debut album ‘The Merry Monarch’.
