Nick Mulvey live at Servant Jazz Quarters December 2012

nick mulvey servant jazz quarters december 2012 gig posterAged 25, Nick Mulvey has already accomplished more than many musicians achieve in a lifetime. As a founding member of Portico Quartet, he picked up a Mercury Music Prize nomination for their debut album ‘Knee-deep in the North Sea’, made a record with legendary producer John Leckie, and sold out venues around the world playing the group’s unique, cinematic mix of world, folk and modern classical music.

But it’s as a solo artist that Nick is now causing a stir, and drawing on his love for Paul Simon, his teenage years learning guitar in Cuba and Southern Spain and on Congolese and Malian music, he has been compared to Jose Gonzalez and Nick Drake.

With early support from 6Music’s Gilles Peterson, and recently signed to the highly respected Fiction Records, Nick is now starting work on his debut album. This is preceded this autumn with a limited edition release – The Trellis EP – and a series of live dates in the UK and Europe, including shows with Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Gotye and Willy Mason.

As part of this tour Nick plays the Servant Jazz Quarters in London on Wednesday, 12th December 2012.

Adv. tickets are £8 and available here.
