Tom the Lion at Sebright Arms December 2012
A young Londoner, Tom the Lion is a musical polymath. He moves effortlessly between hushed folk, naked torchsongs, symphonic pop, right through to vibrant electro. While he writes, plays and produces everything, it is his extraordinary voice that is key to his rich sound-world. Releasing two double 10″ eps exclusively stocked Rough Trade in 2011, the songs were then compiled as ‘The Adventures of Tom the Lion’ in a wooden box, as Rough Trade’s Album of the Month for November 2011. A solo live companion recording from Dorchester Abbey, Oxfordhsire, showcased a defining new song of Tom alone at a piano. That performance of ‘Ragdoll’ has provoked a strong reaction around the world on YouTube. ‘The Adventures of Tom the Lion’ collection rolls out Nationally from October, ahead of his debut album due to be released early in 2013. To date, Tom has not courted any press or radio attention – bar an early Radio 1 Maida Vale session for Rob Da Bank – preferring to play largely solo shows in London whilst writing and recording his debut album.
The 4th December show at Sebright Arms will be his first band show of 2012.
