Belfast Communion in October with Michael Kiwanuka
Communion Belfast in the month of October is a special thing. Remember last year’s Halloween Hoedown? Well, we’ve got another great line-up for you this time round. We are pleased to have Michael Kiwanuka playing his debut headline Irish show!
We will be announcing the rest of the line-up soon, already confirmed are DJ sets from ATFL and Grand Arrow DJ’s.
Doors 7.30pm, tickets £8 adv, available here
Following a support slot on Adele’s European tour, Michael Kiwanuka released his debut EP, Tell Me a Tale, through Communion Records in June 2011 – to great critical acclaim. The 23-year-old has a rootsy, vintage-soul sound that has found comparisons with Curtis Mayfield, Al Green, Bill Withers – even Van Morrison (think Moondance and you’re getting there).
Check out the video for Tell Me a Tale, here and look out for his second release, aptly titled, I’m Getting Ready EP – available 18th September.
