SPOKES

A Manchester band praised for their grand sound, buoyed by bittersweet joy and
devastating lows. While sounding like a band with much more than 5 members they
go from euphoric noise to moments of intense stillness. Their debut ‘Everyone I Ever
Met’, released in January on Ninja Tune’s Counter Records, may well be the debut of
the year.
POST WAR GLAMOUR GIRLS

It’s not easy to draw comparisons at once to Modest Mouse and Nick Cave, but catch
PWGG live and you’ll understand why; mixing the urgency of the former with the
darkness of the latter, PWGG produce music that is at once imbued with energy and
melancholy.
CLIFFORD VILLAGE BAND
http://www.myspace.com/cliffordvillageband
A folk-pop outfit singing songs of all manners and styles. As songwriter and band-
leader, Sam Murray draws on British and American folk and infuses it with all kinds
of styles. An enjoyable live experience.
ALBATROSS

Albatross are one of Communion’s recommended folk acts for 2011 so for the fans of
fine folk, be sure to catch them. Recently finished a tour with Mumford & Sons, they
bring together beautiful ondulating melodies with intriguing lyrics.
