MARINER’S CHILDREN

Mariner’s Children are a 7 piece alt-folk band with a produced, modern feel who’ve been a long time in the making. Sounding like the bastard love child of the Arcade Fire, Mumford and Sons and Iron and Wine with the cosy familiarity of the former and some of the epic intensity of the latter.

The band have finished recording their debut EP New More Island, which is set for release on 1st November via Broken Sound.

TRISTRAM (full band)

Tristram write heart felt folk songs with lulling melodies that can hush crowds into amazement. Reminiscent of Laura Marling, Tristram stretches his notes whilst changing pitch, carrying you along the song with him. With his exceptional, and ever so slightly heartbreaking, vocals; the storytelling wit of a new Jeffery Lewis and his brilliantly understated melodies, Tristram is a truly captivating and memorable performer. Tristram’s imaginative and sardonic use of words and gentle encapsulation of folk is evocative of artists such as Conor Oberst, Daniel Johnston and Nick Drake.

The band are signed to Oh Inverted World Records, who have promoted some top named artists such as Filthy Dukes, Clock Opera, Paloma Faith, Goldheart Assembly, She Keeps Bees and many more; regularly jam-packing the venues and attracting celebrity punters like Mischa Barton, Jack Penate, and even Morrissey. Playing regularly with artists such as The Agitator, Motel Motel, Peggy Sue and Alessi’s Ark; Tristram are finally returning up north to play on a special bill.

+ JOSEPH AND DAVID

Joseph and David have no info but all I would say about them is they are a new band with big sound and big future plus have a new ep coming out, “So Short of Time”.

+ JONNY POWELL

Johnny Powell – “ex-Dharma Bums vocalist, Johnny Powell’s new solo venture is a harrowing, ethereal creature that swims in delicate voices, folky reflection, minimalist electronica and incidental found sounds – like an even lonelier Devendra Banhart. Interesting and affecting”. 24-7 Magazine
