Communion Bristol 9th May

This month is set to be super exciting, with sounds from Bristol, London and even from the other side of the world: only bloody Australia!

PETE LAWRIE – Hotly tipped singer/songwriter Pete Lawrie will be this month’s headliner. Big things planned for this chap, you will be hearing a lot more from him this coming year. A husky voice comparable to Ray LaMontagne and already sparking comparisons to giants Tom Waits and Nick Drake.
HOLWIN’ LORD – Live, the band turn on a dime from haunting, atmospheric, balladry to blistering rock’n’roll hurricanes bordering on total annihilation, imagine Black Flag tearing through a Morricone soundtrack and you’ll not be far off!
MATT CORBY – The voice and face of an angel, his music will make you melt a little inside. In just 18 months, Matt Corby has transformed himself from a 16-year-old singer on Australian Idol, to an artist who has developed his own unique brand of folk / rock.
TOYFACE – Described as ‘old swing in a new style’, Tamsyn’s songwriting resides somewhere between fun-time party music and more conscientious, emotional lyrics, with an eclectic backdrop of accordion, banjo, guitar, drums, keys and bass.
ROB BRAVERY – London-based singer/songwriter Rob Bravery is characterised by his diverse musical influences, from Elliot Smith’s light-hearted melodies to the epic folk creations of Joanna Newsom. Awesome.We will also be inviting the very talented ‘Modifry’ to join us and wow everyone with his fantastic beat boxing skills with the aid of a harmonica. Think Flutebox with a twist. Very exciting!
