Brighton Communion returns to the Hope on Thursday, 23 February 2012!
KYLA LA GRANGE
Described by US Vogue as ‘heart-swelling’, and by US blog Neon Gold as ‘visceral knockouts with no pulled punches in sight’, Kyla’s sound is beautifully showcased in ‘Heavy Stone’ and ‘Lambs’. Each delivers epic folk-pop symphonies as Kyla flexes a musical talent that has drawn comparisons to Marianne Faithfull and Stevie Nicks, with a lyrical deftness that pulls the listener in.
“one of those precocious talents that everyone secretly fears. A gorgeous voice and a soaring chorus, the kind that makes your heart swell a little bit. Stirring stuff.”- The Guardian
NATIVE ROSES
Formed by the founding members of Modern Fighting Vehicles, Native Roses has swelled its ranks with such darlings as Jessica and Jasmine (aka Birdy), who has subsequently landed a great solo recording contract with Atlantic. They’ve released a four track EP this year and are cutting a record with some old school players including a former member of Roxy music.
GABRIEL & THE HOUNDS
Brooklyn artist, Gabriel Levine, best know as founding member and singer in Takka Takka is set to release his debut, Kiss Full of Teeth under the moniker, Gabriel and the Hounds. The various musicians who came together to record this album include performers who are in or have recorded with: The National, Beirut, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Sufjan Stevens, Pat Jordache, Tune-Yards, Bjork, Jonsi, and St Vincent.
PAUL DIELLO
“Paul Diello – has been compared to Eddie Izzard and Anthony and The Johnsons, that gives you a rough compass direction but Paul is actually entirely unique. He posses a stunning vocal and song writing talent that has brought him a whole raft of fans many of whom have fallen in love with him via his self released debut album “The Last Green Bottle’. Hear his contribution to the SolarAid Compilation, you will not be disappointed” Eugenie Arrowsmith – THE BIG CHILL
